A Jewish insight.
Exploring Judaism & combating
antisemitism.
About me.
I'm 23 years old, studying Religions, Theology and Ethics specialising in Jewish and Israel studies at the University of Manchester. My specific areas of interest are Judaism, Zionism and the Israeli/Palestinian conflict.
I started this website after seeing the immense rise of antisemitism over the last few years along with the constant demonisation of Israel. I wanted to create a platform that I could use to share my views and opinions as well as challenge lies and misinformation. I also wanted to be able to talk about the beautiful religion that is Judaism, from Torah and the Prophets to religious practice and the Jewish community. Judaism is a religion steeped in thousands of years of rich traditions and history, all waiting to be learned.
Why am I doing this?
A couple of years ago, In 2021, the United Kingdom saw an incredible rise in antisemitism and reported the highest ever amount of antisemitic incidents in a calendar year. Then, on October 7th, Israel and the Jewish diaspora were shattered when the most Jews since the holocaust were brutally slaughtered in a single day. Now, in 2024, we are witnessing new record-breaking levels of antisemitism in the United Kingdom. Unfortunately, over the last few years, this has been the same throughout most countries across the globe, all reporting alarming and unnervingly high rates of antisemitism. The dramatic spike in antisemitism this year, as well as experiencing the fear from within the Jewish community myself, made me realise that I had to do something and raise awareness. Jews are living with the highest levels of antisemitism seen in contemporary history, questioning whether we have a future in the West, while also fighting for our existence in the Jewish homeland of Israel against terrorist organisations whose mission is our annihilation.
In short, this is why. I want to help bring awareness to antisemitism along with anti-Israel narratives and combat it through conversation and dialogue. I spent a long time thinking about what to do and how to do it perfectly before realising, after being inspired by the famous Jewish quote 'If not now, when?', that I need to just start and figure it out along the way. I'm not going to do anything if I do nothing at all.
